Experience the beauty of Lake Titicaca on our Titicaca Lake Tour – Floating Islands of Uros, Amantani Island and Taquile. We will explore the highest navigable lake in the world at 3,812 meters above sea level. The sparkling waters, distant Andes peaks, and serene shores of Lake Titicaca will create unforgettable memories. Local families will welcome us, sharing insights about their pre-Inca traditions and daily life.

During the first day, we will visit the Floating Islands of Uros. We will walk on the totora reeds, see reed houses, and learn how locals maintain their unique lifestyle. Our guide will introduce us to the Aymara language and community traditions. Optional reed boat rides will let us experience the lake like the Uros people do.

Next, we will continue to Amantani Island. We will stay with local families, walk to the Pachamama and Pachatata viewpoints, and enjoy wide views of the lake. We will witness traditional music, dance, and the simple life of the islanders. Evenings will immerse us in folklore, making the stay authentic and memorable.

On the second day, we will explore Taquile Island, famous for its textiles and cultural heritage. We will walk to the main plaza, talk with local families, and watch how they make their textiles. The views of Lake Titicaca from the hills will be breathtaking. This Titicaca Lake Tour combines culture, history, and stunning landscapes for an immersive Andean adventure.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Puno – Floating Islands of Uros – Amantani Island

We will get picked up from our hotel in Puno at 08:00 A.M. Then a brief drive will bring us to the main boat pier. On the way, we will make a quick stop for snacks and drinks.

Local musicians will greet us with traditional Andean music as we board the boat. Our guide will explain the day’s activities and safety instructions for the lake journey. We will cruise across Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3,812 meters above sea level.

Our first stop will be the Floating Islands of Uros. Local families will welcome us and show how they build islands and homes from totora reeds. We will walk among the reed houses, learn pre-Inca traditions, and witness daily life.

Photography lovers will capture stunning reflections on the calm lake. Optional short reed boat rides cost 10 Soles per person.

After exploring Uros, we will take a 3-hour boat ride to Amantani Island. Upon arrival, a host family will welcome us to their home. We will have lunch with the family and enjoy some free time to rest or explore the surroundings.

In the late afternoon, we will hike to Pachamama (Mother Earth) and Pachatata (Father Earth) peaks. The panoramic views of the lake at sunset will be breathtaking. After descending, we will return to the host family for dinner and join a folkloric event in the community hall. We will sleep overnight on Amantani Island in a private room.

Day 2

Amantani Island – Taquile Island – Puno

We will start the morning with breakfast at the host family’s home. After breakfast, we will hike to the boat pier for our ride to Taquile Island. The boat ride will take about 2.5 hours across Lake Titicaca’s turquoise waters.

Taquile Island sits at 3,950 meters above sea level. From the pier, we will hike 8.2 kilometers uphill to the main plaza, the island’s viewpoint. Along the way, locals in traditional attire will greet us and carry out daily chores. Our guide will explain Taquile’s textile and knitting traditions, recognized by UNESCO.

At the main plaza, we will observe workshops where men knit clothing and women prepare yarn for weaving. We will learn about the island’s pre-Inca and Inca roots and the community’s culture. Photography lovers will get stunning shots of Lake Titicaca, the hills, and local life.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant with lake views. After lunch at 02:30 P.M., we will return to the boat for the ride back to Puno. We will reach Puno around 04:30 P.M., and a representative will transfer us to our hotel.
